Softball dominates all-conference honors

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Sinclair Softball (31-14 / 14-2 OCCAC) finished the regular season as the OCCAC champion and followed it up with the NJCAA District I Tournament Championship.  The 3-2 win over Lake Michigan vaulted the Pride to their first ever appearance in the NJCAA Division II Softball College World Series.

During the District Tournament last week, the conference announced the all-conference awards.

OCCAC Coach of the Year:  Steve Beachler

OCCAC Pitcher of the Year: Ashley Brown

OCCAC 1st Team:                 Ashley Brown

OCCAC 1st Team:                 Cierra Chastain

OCCAC 1st Team:                 Kenedie Cox

OCCAC 1st Team:                 Hailey McEldowney

OCCAC 1st Team:                 Bailey Pennington


In addition, Sinclair placed Ashley Brown on the NJCAA Division II All-Region XII Team.

Sinclair continued to collect post-season honors with five players selected to the District I All-Tournament, which also included Ashley Brown earning the NJCAA District I Tournament Most Valuable Player Award.

Leading the Pride to it’s first conference championship since 1991 and capturing the first ever berth to the College World Series, Coach Steve Beachler was named the District I Coach of the Year.

The Pride will open World Series play on Wednesday the 22nd as the #11 seed against St. Louis CC.  All games are being played at Traceway Park in Clinton, MS.
