Head athletic trainer Spencer Deffner is in his fifth year at Sinclair Community College. Spencer oversees the Tartan's rehabilitation procedures, injury records, athletic training room and daily athletic training duties.
Deffner graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2011 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Athletic Training. As an undergraduate, he spent four years in the athletic training program working with a variety of sports.
After graduating from EKU, Deffner was an intern with the NFL's San Francisco 49ers. Following his stint with professional football, Deffner was a graduate assistant athletic trainer for two years at Ohio University. While there, he worked primarily with the baseball program as well as with men's and women's basketball, football, volleyball, and swimming & diving. He earned his Masters of Science degree in Athletic Training from OU in 2013.
Deffner is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the Ohio Athletic Trainers' Association.
A native of Eaton, Ohio, Spencer now resides in Tipp City, Ohio with his wife Jenna.
Spencer is employed by Kettering Health Network: Sports Medicine. He primarily works in Sports Acceleration, which is their Sports Performance area that offers a variety of sports enhancement programs designed to increase speed, power, and agility.
