#20 Sinclair Volleyball falls to #2 Owens on Sophomore Night 3-0.

Dayton, OH – The Sinclair (21-6/9-2) Volleyball team lost to the Express of Owens Community College (31-4/11-0) tonight in three sets.

The Tartan Pride Sophomores were celebrated tonight.  These ladies include Brooke Artz, Abigail Bertke, Morgan Leeson, Lauren Roetgerman, Emily Witker, and Meg Reineke.  Best of luck to these ladies in what they decide to do hereon after.

Currently ranked at #20 in the NJCAA Division II, Sinclair took on #2 Owens at home.  Earlier this season, Sinclair traveled to Owens, but came up with a loss.  The Tartan Pride wanted to avenge this division rivalry loss.  The first set was a rough start for the Pride and the Express were dominating.  Sinclair did seem to keep into the set, but Owens lead the entire time and ran away with it to win the first set 12-25.

The second set was what people came and wanted to see.  Sinclair showed up and gave Owens a run for their money.  Even with the overpowering defense of Owens, the Tartans tied it 10-10 and then soon took an 11-10 lead.  There were multiple lead changes throughout the entire set.  Sinclair went on a run and had the game where they wanted with a 19-15 lead.  However, Owens came back and tied it at 19-19.  These teams were evenly matched.  With Owens up 23-24 and going for the set point, Sinclair got the next point to make Owens work for the win.  Unfortunately the Express did eventually take the set 24-26 over Sinclair

With Owens up 2-0, the 3rd set was a must-win for Sinclair to keep the match going.  Just like the 1st set, the Express took complete control over the 3rd and final set.  Owens looked like the #2 team and unfortunately Sinclair could not keep up.  Owens took the final set 10-25 and the match 3-0.
