Sinclair Volleyball splits conference matches over the weekend.

Dayton, OH – The Sinclair (10-7/3-3) Volleyball team earned a win over Cuyahoga Community College (5-10/1-4) but fell to Lakeland Community College (14-4/4-1) this past weekend.

The Pride struggled to keep up with Lakeland’s powerful offensive and defense at the net resulting in a 0-3 loss for Sinclair on Friday evening. Lakeland opened the match with a closely contested first game win 21-25. Lakeland found it hard to maintain their ability with the Pride fighting back in the second game, but the Lakers went on to pull out another win 21-25. The third and final game resulted with Lakeland dominating the game and winning 11-25 easily. Throughout the first match of the weekend, Sinclair found it hard to keep up with Lakeland’s aggressive attacks at the net and solid defense. Alexandra Petri (SO-Outside Hitter/Springboro H.S.) tallied 10 kills and 13 digs while Meg Rieneke (FR-Outside Hitter/New Knoxville H.S.) helped the Tartans with 11 kills and 23 digs.

Saturday, the Pride took on Cuyahoga Community College and was able to get some confidence back. Sinclair won the match in three close games (25-12, 27-25, and 25-19). The Pride were in the attacking mode at the net and wouldn’t let Cuyahoga take them down after their loss the night before. Meg Rieneke (FR-Outside Hitter/New Knoxville H.S.) and Alexandra Petri (SO-Outside Hitter/Springboro H.S.) were both aggressive at the net with 30 kills total and fighting for digs to keep the defense strong with 29 total. Melissa Mireles (SO-Setter/Germantown, OH) contributed with 32 assist and 12 digs for the Pride to get their win for the weekend.
