Sinclair Volleyball holds off Lakers in 5

Dayton, Ohio - Sinclair Tartans defeat Lakeland Lakers 3-2 to take sole possession of 5th place in the OCCAC. Sinclair improves to 12-21 overall and 5-8 in conference place. With this win, Sinclair records their third straight win; this is Sinclair’s first three game winning streak this season.

The first set found the two sides trading points until Carly Butler made a spectacular dig that resulted in Sinclair taking the lead. The Lakers responded with a 7-1 run to tie the set at 20 apiece. Tiffany Jordan’s attacking broke the deadlock and propelled the Tartans to take the first set 25-21

Sinclair sustained the momentum from the first to rush out to an 8-4 lead. The Lakers responded with a 5-0 run to tie the game at 12. At the end of the set, Sinclair was trailing 21-23 but was able to fight back and take the second set 25-23 and take a 2-0 in the match. 

The Lakers never gave up as they kept fighting to get back in the game. They avoided getting swept by taking a very close third set 23-25. They kept improving as the game went on and took the following set to tie the match at 2-2.

The final set found to be quite the battle as neither team took a lead of more than one till Sinclair’s hitting came to life giving the Tartans a 10-8 lead. Sinclair won the fifth and final match 15-10 ending on a 7-2 run.

Sinclair will play their final game of the season tomorrow at home against Cuyahoga Community College at 1:30pm
