Sinclair Women’s Basketball Cruise Past WPAFB 74-37

Dayton, OH- Sinclair Women’s Basketball (11-2, 1-1) come off holiday break with an easy win against the Hawks of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.  The Tartans did not have a problem holding off the Hawks with both side of the ball working in their favor tonight.  Offense was able to score and the defense also held their own in the game.

In the 1st quarter, Sinclair looked to be able to cruise to the end with their play.  The Tartan Pride had a 12-0 run against the Hawks and forced turnovers.  They played like a team and everything was going their way.  Free throws were being made when they needed to be and defense shut down Wright-Patt.  Sinclair ended the 1st quarter with a 16-6 lead.  Lauren Roetgerman (5-10/FR-Minister High School) led the team with 6 points.

Sinclair put the game in the bag during the 2nd quarter.  They were able to outscore their opponent 28-9 and ran away with it.  The Tartans had good ball movement working, but it took a little bit for the offense to wake up.  Again, the defense was the star of the show with more forced turnovers and great defending.  The score at the half was 44-15 with Sinclair on top.  Reanna Dudley (5-04/FR-Chaminade Julienne H.S.) had 7 points and Tajah Parker (5-09/FR-Chaminade Julienne H.S.) had 6 points.

The 3rd quarter for Sinclair was a little slow and cooled off from the get-go and seemed to be missing their spark.  Nonetheless, the Tartans found a way to get their layups to go in and score some cushion points.  Defense stayed sharp to start the 2nd half.  Sinclair led 57-24 at the end of the 3rd quarter.  5 different players scored 2 points.

The 4th quarter was no different for the Tartan Pride.  Their offense was clicking and the defense was not letting down.  Seven different players scored for Sinclair during the last quarter with Doriann Carter (5-09/SO-Northmont H.S.) cashing in a 3-point FG.  The Hawks evenly played the Tartans in the 4th quarter, but the game was already over.  Sinclair cruised to the win with a final score of 74-37

Tajah Parker scored 16 points and Aaryn Evans (6-00/FR-Thurgood Marshall H.S.) had 10 points.

Sinclair Women play at home next on Wednesday January 11th against Cincinnati State at 5:30 PM.

All home games are played in Building 8 on the downtown Dayton campus.
