Sinclair Women’s Basketball Wins at Home 48-43 on Veterans Day

Dayton, OH- The Sinclair Women’s Basketball (3-1) pulled out a great win tonight for their first home win of the season against the Skippers of St. Clair County Community College-MI (0-2). The Tartans had a slow start to being the game.  Defense looked sharp as they kept the Skippers to only 8 points in the first quarter.  Similarly, Sinclair only scored 11 points in the first quarter with Lauren Roetgerman leading the offense with a 3-point FG.

In the second quarter, Sinclair’s defense began showing their vulnerabilities.  St. Clair came out with their offense and was able to score 14 points in the second quarter (almost doubling their offense in the previous quarter).  Offense still looked good for the Tartans by adding 13 points to their lead in the second quarter.  Tajah Parker (5-09/FR-Chaminade-Julienne H.S.) had 5 points and Madison Connally-Banks had 3 points.  Lauren Roetgerman also added another 3-point FG.  Half time score had Sinclair up 40-34 on St. Clair.

A couple more Tartans got into the offensive game in the third quarter.  With both the offense and defense looking sharp, Sinclair held their lead against St. Clair.  Finishing up the third quarter, the Tartan Pride never looked back in the game.  Reanna Dudley (5-04/SO-Chaminade-Julienne H.S.) and Aaryn Evans both had 4 points in the third quarter.

Even with the lead going into the fourth quarter, it seemed as though the Tartans had slowed down their pace.  If not for the defense owning this game, the ending result may have been more hard fought.  Sinclair was only kept to 8 points in the final quarter of the game while St. Clair only had 9 points of offense.  The Tartans were able to avenge their loss last season to the Skippers with a 48-43.

Lauren Roetgerman had a season high 10 points for the game.  Aaryn Evans also had 10 points for the Tartans.

Sinclair Women play at home next November 30 at 5:30 PM against Cedarville-JV.

All home games are played in Building 8 on the downtown Dayton campus.
