Sinclair Women’s Basketball Signs the Big 4 for 2017-18

Dayton, OH – Sinclair Community College head coach Victoria Jones has announced the signing of four student-athletes to letters of intent to play basketball for the Tartans during the upcoming 2017-2018 season. Joining the Tartan Pride this fall; Amanda Schroeder, Kierre James, Alyssa Bowman and Keeara Nared.

“I am very excited about this BIG 4,” Jones stated.  This group is double special because they have excelled both on and off the court. My staff has done a wonderful job with identifying talent along with academics. This group has been part of successful programs and they have taken care of business in the classroom. When talking about talent I believe the best is yet to come for Sinclair women’s basketball. We have added some toughness, length, and some offense at every position. I am excited to get the 2017-18 season underway and to showcase the BIG 4 in action.”

Schroeder is from Carroll High School of Dayton, Ohio. A guard/forward, she help lead Carroll High School to sectional and district championships, and was a regional runner up. Shroeder also earned 1st team All-Conference, All- Area Team (Dabbelt report), Southwest District 2nd team and Honorable Mention All-State DII. She is a member of the 1000 point club and she avearge 18.9pts, 9.4 rebs per game. She also graduated with honors. Her sister Madison Schroeder also played for Sinclair and was a 1st team All-Conference player and a Academic All-American.

James is from Lima Senior High School of Lima, Ohio. A point guard, she earned 1st team All-TRAC and a 3rd team All-State. James was part of the Vicki Mauk Invitational All Tournament Team. She also played in the 2016-2017 All Star Game. In her career she had 765 points, 208 steals, 360 rebounds, and 285 assists. James also graduated  Cum Laude with a 3.5 gpa.

Bowman is from Stebbins High School of Dayton, Ohio. A shooting guard, she led the GWOC in assists her senior year. She also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference. Bowman led her team for the last two seasons with the highest 3pt percentage at 37.5%. She also received scholar athlete all 4 years and received the Society of Academic Excellence Award.

Nared is from Thurgood Marshall High School of Dayton, Ohio. A guard, she earned 1st team All-Conference, and was the Defensive Player of the Year. Nared help lead her team to a 19-4 record and advanced to the second round of the tournament. She also was a regular on the honor roll list and is a member of the Honor Society.

This group joins a already strong team that returns five student-athletes and two key starters. Those five players make up 2 All-Conference Honorable-Mention Players, 1 All- Defensive All-Conference Player, and 1 All-Freshman Conference Player. Last seasons team was National Ranked twice, finished 23-8 overall and made a trip to the NJCAA D-II District I FINAL FOUR.
