Sinclair Women’s Basketball Win 6th Straight Game 58-39

Dayton, OH- The Sinclair Women’s Basketball (8-1, 0-0) dominated at home with their 6th straight win against the Yellow Jackets of Cedarville University-Junior Varsity. The Tartans started the first quarter with a lackluster offensive show.  Turnovers could not be avoided.  Their defense, although, looked spectacular with steals and making the Yellow Jackets turn over the ball themselves.  Sinclair ended the first quarter with a 14-10 lead.  Aaryn Evans (6-00/FR-Thurgood Marshall H.S.) led the team with 6 points.

Offense got to a slow start in the second quarter for the Tartan Pride.  There were missed easy shots, mostly layups.  Cedarville-JV started to show some resilience with both their offense and defense.  Even though it looked like the Tartans had the upper-hand, the Yellow Jackets made it a close game with a score of 23-22 at the half in Sinclair’s favor.  Nia Martin (5-04/FR-Trotwood-Madison H.S.) had a 3-PT FG.

The offense began to light up in the third quarter for Sinclair.  The Tartans started the half on a 12-1 run.  Not only was their offense sharp, but their defense also stood out.  Sinclair kept Cedarville-JV to only 7 points in the third quarter to make it 45-29 after 3 quarters.  Doriann Carter (5-09/SO-Northmont H.S.) came off the bench to score 5 points.  Madison Connally-Banks (6-01/FR-Fairmont H.S.) also had 5 points.

The Tartans were able to put the game away in the fourth quarter.  Defense was looking good with forced turnovers and great coverage.  The plays were a little sloppy for Sinclair, but came out with a win nonetheless with a final score of 58-39.  Both Nia Martin and Aaryn Evans had 4 points in the last quarter.

Aaryn Evans had herself a game with a double-double (12 points and 22 rebounds).

Nia Martin had 12 points and Madison Connally-Banks had 8 points.

Sinclair Women play at home next and open conference play on December 10th at 1:00 PM against Lakeland Community College.

All home games are played in Building 8 on the downtown Dayton campus.
