Sinclair Women’s Basketball lose to Mid-Michigan at home 70-52

The Sinclair Women’s Basketball (5-4, 0-0) suffered their first home loss of the season to the Lakers of Mid-Michigan Community College (10-1, 0-0). The Tartans had a slow start to the 1st quarter.  The offense could not seem to find its stride, but ended the quarter down 15-19.  Sara Thornton and Chloe Mayfield-Brown each had five points.

The Tartan Pride’s offense was outscored 21-13 in the 2nd quarter.  Sinclair battled back but the Lakers’ offense was too much to handle and the 1st half came to an end with Sinclair down 28-40.  Ashtin Brandon led the team with four points in the 2nd quarter.

The 3rd seemed to be no different than the first half.  The Lakers could not be held off and they outscored the Tartans again 13-21.  Sara Thornton led with six points in the quarter.

The Sinclair offense was silenced even more by the Lakers in the 4th quarter.  The lack of offense for Mid-Michigan was also noticeable.  The Tartans scored 11 while the Lakers scored nine.  The Tartan Pride tried to battle back, but it was too late and Mid-Michigan came up with the victory with a final score of 52-70.

Sara Thornton ended the game with 13 points and 12 rebounds giving her a double-double.  Madison Patton had 11 points and six rebounds.  Chloe Mayfield-Brown and Ashtin Brandon each ended the game with 9 points.

Sinclair’s next game will be as host against Lakeland Community College on Saturday, December 12th at 1:00 pm.

All home games are played in Building 8 on the downtown Dayton campus.
