Sinclair Women’s Basketball win second straight at home

The Sinclair Women’s Basketball (5-3) came up with another impressive win at home against the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets (2-2). The first quarter showed promise for the Tartan Pride.  They had good ball movement and the defense was on point.  Alona Skipper (5-10/SO – Kettering Fairmont H.S.) hit two 3-point FGs in the first quarter with eight points while Madison Schroeder (6-0/SO Dayton Carroll H.S.) had three FGs from the field.  The Tartan Pride led 18-12 after the first quarter.

The second quarter started a little differently.  Play was a little sloppy and there were several missed shots.  Defense again was on point by only allowing 12 points to the Blue Jackets while the Tartans were able to score 14 points to end the first half up 32-24.  Madison Schroeder scored another 8 points.  Offensive and Defensive rebounds helped keep Sinclair their healthy lead.

The start of the 3rd quarter was when the offense for the Tartans completely woke up.  Eight players contributed to the scoring in the 3rd quarter.  Sinclair went up 60-37 over Cedarville.  Doriann Carter (5-9/FR – Northmont H.S.) and Ashtin Brandon (5-10/SO – Dayton Stebbins H.S.) lead the scoring with 6 points each.

The Tartans seemed to be a little exhausted at the beginning of the 4th quarter.  It took almost five minutes for a player to score.  Missed shots once again came up in this quarter.  Sinclair was able to pull out a win against the Cedarville Blue Jackets with a final score of 69-54

The Sinclair Tartans outrebounded their opponent 44-40.  Madison Schroeder led the team with 18 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.  Alona Skipper had 14 points with 4 3-point FGs.  Sara Thornton (5-7/SO – Kenton Ridge H.S.) led the team with 5 assists.

Sinclair will host NJCAA Region XII foe Mid-Michigan on Saturday, December 5th at 1:00 pm.

All home games are played in Building 8 on the downtown Dayton campus.
