Dayton, Ohio- Sinclair (6-1) playing on back to back nights held on to knock off the University of Dayton Women's Club team 66-55.
UD looked to be completely overmatched as they were not able to get any clean looks at the basket, shooting 37% from the field and 20% from behind the 3pt arc. Just the opposite, the home team took advantage of the home rims as they shot 58% from the field and 50% from the 3pt line. The Flyers had no answer for Sara Thornton (5-7/Freshman – Kenton Ridge H.S.) as she torched them for 13 points on 6 for 8 shooting. The game looked to be in complete control by the home team as Sinclair had a comfortable 17 point half time margin – 39-22.
Whatever hot shooting the Sinclair ladies took into halftime, it did not follow them out for the second half. Going 1 for 6 from behind the 3pt arc and 23% from the field coupled with 13 second half turnovers, the Flyers found themselves back in the game. Only down 4 with 3 minutes remaining, Sinclair made one final push to get the lead back out to double figures behind second half play of Jenae Curtiss.
Leading the way with 18 points and 5 rebounds Jenae Curtiss (5-8/Sophomore – Thurgood Marshall H.S.) Also scoring in double figures for Sinclair was Sara Thornton (5-7/Freshman – Kenton Ridge H.S.) with 17 points and Breanna Ball (5-7/Sophomore – Belmont H.S.) with 10 points.
