Dayton, Ohio- Lady Tartans extend their winning streak to three as they take down The Ohio State University-Lima Barons 81-58. Sara Thorton (5'7" freshman guard out of Kenton Ridge H.S.) led the way as she had a team high 13 points. She tacked on six rebounds and two assists. Sinclair improves to 3-0 on the season while OSU-Lima fall to 0-1.
The Tartans wasted no time getting out to an early lead going on a 15-0 run which ended with 12:49 remaining in the first half. This came off of efficient three-point shooting from Alona Skipper (5'10" freshman forward out of Fairmont H.S.), Anique Kenniebrew (5'3" freshman guard out of Wayne H.S.) and O'sha Owens (5'5" sophomore guard out of Elida H.S.) who combined for a 5-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc. Sinclair had a massive advantage in rebounding as they pulled in 16 offensive rebounds to the Baron's six and overall, out rebounded their opponents 31 to 19 for the first half. OSU-Lima was able to keep the game from getting too out of hand by getting to the free-throw line. They shot 75 percent from the line making 12 of their 16 attempts. Sara Thortan (5'7" freshman forward out of Kenton Ridge H.S.) led all scorers in the half with nine points followed byAlona Skipper who tacked on eight. Sinclair went into halftime with a 38-25 lead.
The second half of the game saw a change in strategy for the Sinclair Tartans. They went into a full court press. This caused the Barons to turn the ball over 32 times. Sinclair snagged 19 steals for the game. Sara O'Malley (5'11" freshman forward from Fairmont H.S.) and Breanna Ball (5'7" sophomore guard from Belmont H.S.) led the team in steals recording three apiece. The Tartans got production from a vast majority of the team having 12 different players score in the game and 42 points came from players off the bench.
Notable players for the game include O'Sha Owens who had 11 points and four assists. For the Barons, Megan Imwalle led all scorers with 17 points. She contributed five rebounds and two assists.
Sinclair's next game is at Schoolcraft College this Saturday November 15th at 2pm.
