DAYTON, Ohio – Sinclair Community College women’s basketball team took down Edison Community College 88-62. With the win, the Lady Tartans improve to 14-8 and 4-3 in the OCCAC. Edison falls to 2-15 on the season and 1-5 in the conference. O’Sha Owens (SO/5’5” guard from Elida, OH) was the player of the game with 23 points 7 rebounds and 6 assists. This was Owens’ fifth 20 point game of the season.
Sinclair came fast out the gate going on a 6-0 run in the first 2:30 minutes of the game. Edison stormed back tying up the game 18-18 and on the very next possession took the lead 20-18 with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. O’Sha Owens answered by making back-to-back threes to take the lead back which was not relinquished for the rest of the game. Sinclair ended the game on a 10-2 run and went into the half up 40-26.
The Tartans started right back up where they left off the first half going on another 10-2 run in the first 2:18 minutes. Edison only having seven players play became a factor in the second half compared to Sinclair’s depth. Sara Thorton (FR/5’7” guard from Kenton Ridge H.S.) had 12 of Sinclair’s 44 bench points to the Charger’s two. All but one Tartan had points in the contest. Sinclair at one point led as much as 37 points and cruised to victory from that point forth.
Notable performances included Alona Skipper (FR/5’10” guard from Fairmont H.S.) who made four threes on the night and had a total of 14 points and Breanna Ball (SO/5’7” guard from Belmont H.S.) who had 12 points shooting 6-15 from the field. For the Chargers, Brooke Dunlevy led all scorers with 25 points and nine rebounds.
Sinclair is back in action this Saturday as they host Lorain County C.C. at 2pm in the P.A.C. Gym located in Building 8.
