DAYTON, Ohio- Sinclair Tartans defeat the Cuyahoga Challengers 87-41 on sophomore night. With the win, Sinclair ends the regular season with an overall record of 16-11, and 8-6 in the OCCAC. Sinclair was led by sophomore Janae Curtiss (5’8” guard from Thurgood Marshall H.S.). In Curtiss’ final home game in Building 8, she had 20 points and 3 rebounds.
Sinclair was able to pull away from the Challengers early due to efficient shooting from the floor. The Tartans were able to convert 50 percent of their total attempts and 50 percent from beyond the arc in the first half to go into the locker room with a 50-22 lead.
Sinclair came out of the break determined not to let the Challengers back into the game. Sinclair went on a 12-0 run to start the half and never looked back.
Sinclair was also able to dominate the boards out-rebounding their opponents 45-23 with 18 offensive rebounds that led to 10 second chance points.
Sophomore night recognized four sophomores for the Tartans. Celebrated players included O’Sha Owens (5’5” guard from Elida, Ohio), Breanna Ball(5’7” guard from Belmont, Ohio), Darnesha Wesley (5’7” guard out of Meadowdale, Ohio), and Janae Curtiss.
Sinclair women’s basketball team’s next game is at home against Cincinnati State for their final game of the regular season. The game is in Building 8on Tuesday the 24th at 5:30p.m.
