Sinclair Overcomes Halftime Deficit to Defeat Cedarville JV 61-49

Dayton, Ohio- Sinclair Women's Basketball defeats Cedarville JV 61-49 despite trailing at half. Jenae Curtiss (5'8" sophomore from Dayton, Ohio) led all scorers with 14 points from 5-of-11 shooting from the field and dished out three assists.

In the first half, Cedarville was able to get to the free-throw line but were only able to convert 6-of-12.  Both teams struggled from beyond the arc. Sinclair went 0-for-14 from deep while Cedarville did not do much better by going 1-of-7. The Yellow Jackets were able to go into half time leading the Tartans 26-29.

The second half proved to be a different story for Sinclair. The Tartans were the ones getting the free throw line this half as they shot 7-for-10 and were able to hold Cedarville to no free throw attempts for the second half. Sinclair's persistent defense was able to force 25 turnovers off of nine steals for the game. Eight different Tartans were able to record a steal on the game while Breanna Ball (5'7" sophomore out of Dayton, Ohio) led all players in steals with two. The Yellow Jackets were able to keep majority of the game close as there were eight lead changes and four ties throughout the game, but Sinclair was able to come out on top to take their first win of the season.

Other notable performances for the game included Astin Brandon (5'10" freshman from Dayton, Ohio) grabbing a game high 18 rebounds, six of which were on the offensive end. For the Yellow Jackets, Kaitlyn Simpson recorded her first double-double on the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Sinclair is back in action next Tuesday, November 5th, as they host UC-Clermont in Building 8, P.A.C. Gymnasium at 5:30pm.
