DAYTON, OH – The Sinclair women's basketball team (7-7) jumped into the holiday break with a tip to buzzer win over Southern State 69-45.
Sinclair took the lead from the tip and never looked back with an 11-0 run to start the game. Southern State did fight back with solid post play as they were able to work the lead down to five (20-15) with 8 minutes remaining in the half. The final 8 minutes of the half, Southern State was not able to handle Sinclair's pressure as the Pride converted easy buckets in transition. Sinclair forced the visitors into 20 first half turnovers and held them to 0-6 from the 3 point line as the Pride took a 16 point margin into half.
The second half was much of the same as Sinclair pushed the ball in transition leading to the largest margin of the game, 27 points (50-23) with 12 minutes left. That is when Southern State made a mini run of their own and outscored Sinclair 14-4 to narrow the margin back to 17 (54-37) with 7 minutes on the clock. Once again the Sinclair pressure, which forced a total of 40 Southern State turnovers, lead to easy transition baskets and building the lead back up to 20. The bright spot for Southern State was Cheyenne Ramey, she scored 22 points and pulled down a game high 17 rebounds in the loss. The final score 69-45 brings Sinclair's record back to 7-7 going into the holiday break.
