Sinclair Softball earns 2nd OCCAC Pitcher of the Week Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The weekly honorees for April 2-8 consists of three Cuyahoga Challengers and a member of the Sinclair Tartan Pride. Cuyahoga’s Chase Carney and Kaitlyn Boykin have been named the Position Players of the Week while fellow Challenger, Brock Begue, represents baseball’s Pitcher of the Week and Alexis Strother of Sinclair earns her second Pitcher of the Week accolade from the softball circle.

Alexis Strother (FR-RHP/Lebanon H.S.) hurled a five-inning complete game as Sinclair run-ruled Lakeland, 8-0 in the opening game of OCCAC play. The only base runner of the game reached on an error while Strother struck out 12 of 15 batters she faced in the no-hit effort. This was the second no-hitter of the season for Strother as she blanked Rio Grande JV 8-0 in 5 innings.

Alexis was named the OCCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week earlier this season on March 12 and is now 8-2 on the season for the 17-4 Tartan Pride.

Sinclair will host Cuyahoga Friday in a conference doubleheader at Athletes in Action as both teams are undefeated in conference play.
