Sinclair Softball sweeps Pitcher and Player of the Week honors

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Edison State Baseball and Sinclair Softball swept the OCCAC Spring Sport Athletes of the Week for March 5-11. Cameron Davis (position player) and Marcus Johnson (player) are the baseball honorees while Brianna West (position player) and Alexis Strother (pitcher) bring the softball awards back to Sinclair.

Brianna West (SO-IF/Kettering Fairmont H.S.) reached base at a .727 clip in a busy 9-game week. She batted .600 (9-15) and drew seven walks as Sinclair went 9-0 for the week. West scored eight times while also batting in four more. In addition to her seven singles, she posted a pair of doubles. Once on the base paths, West wreaked havoc by swiping four bags on her way to earning OCCAC Player of the Week.

Alexis Strother (FR-IF/Lebanon H.S.) started four of nine games last week, earning the win in all four outings. She totaled 29.0 innings pitched for the week, registering a 0.72 ERA with only three earned runs plated. Strother racked up 30 strikeouts compared to just 22 base runners (14 H, 9 BB). This week’s OCCAC Pitcher of the Week is now 5-0 on the season for the undefeated Tartan Pride (11-0).

Sinclair will return to action Saturday at Athletes in Action as they take on Lansing in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 1pm.
