Sinclair softball sweeps OCCAC weekly honors

Dayton, Ohio – The Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) announced that Shelby Hartzell and Mackenzie Irons have been named this week’s OCCAC Pitcher and Player of the Week recipients in Softball.

OCCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Shelby Hartzell (FR-Ansonia H.S.), Sinclair CC

Hartzell, a freshman RHP for the Tartan Pride, went 4-1 with a 1.39 ERA over 25.1 innings last week. She struck out 25 while walking just three batters over five appearances. 

Hartzell is now 13-11 overall this year with two saves and nine complete games. In 133.1 innings, she has a 3.57 ERA with 113 strikeouts.  This is her second Pitcher of the Week honor this season.

OCCAC Softball Player of the Week
Mackenzie Irons (Ryle HS), Sinclair CC 

Irons, a freshman outfielder for the Tartan Pride, batted 8-for-18 (.444) with three runs, two doubles, four RBI, one walk and one stolen base last week. Her team went 4-2 overall.

Irons is now batting 25-for-81 (.309) this season with 16 runs, five doubles, one home run, 13 RBI, seven walks. 

Sinclair is 18-21 overall and 4-4 in OCCAC play. They are back in action on Friday at home against Clark State.
