Sinclair freshman earns OCCAC Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Week Two of the 2018-19 basketball season saw student-athletes from four different conference institutions earn Player of the Week honors. Lauryn Gray (Edison State) and Whitney Staggs (Columbus State) were selected for the women’s D-II and D-III accolades, respectively, while Sinclair’s Sean McNeil and Azende Johnson of Hocking College came away as the men’s recipients.

Sean McNeil (6-04/FR – Cooper HS KY) was good for 62 points and 19 rebounds in two contests for the Tartan Pride. He knocked down 34 shots in total, hitting 19-of-54 field goals and sinking all 15 free throw attempts. McNeil came up a lone rebound shy of back-to-back double-doubles with 40 points and nine rebounds against MU-Middletown before a 22-point, 10-rebound effort at Henry Ford College.

Sinclair (1-1) will host Cedarville JV’s on Wednesday at 7:30 followed by the newest team in Ohio on Saturday, Bryant & Stratton at 3:00.  Building 8 Arena will be busy over the next couple of weeks as the Pride will start a stretch of 6 consecutive home games before starting finals.
