LiDonta Hicks-Gentry earns 3rd OCCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors this season

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Columbus State Community College swept the D-III OCCAC Basketball Player of the Week laurels for the third straight week with Destiny Wooten and Matthew Gierhart earning back-to-back honors while Lakeland Community College’s Armani Jackson and LiDonta Hicks-Gentry of Sinclair Community College were named the D-II recipients
LiDonta Hicks-Gentry (6-7/SO – Snider HS, Fort Wayne, IN) was a monster over the last seven days, racking up 75 points and 52 rebounds in three games. His 25.0 points and 17.3 rebounds per game averages were accompanied by four assists and four blocks while shooting at a 63% (31-49) clip from the field. He also knocked down 11-of-12 foul shots and 2-of-5 from long range. Hicks-Gentry scored no less than 21 points in any of the three contests with a minimum of 11 rebounds. He blew the top off in an 82-69 win over Clark State, registering a career high 31 points and a whopping 22 boards, also a new career high. Hicks-Gentry now owns four career OCCAC Player of the Week awards.
Hicks-Gentry has now recorded 25 career double-doubles with a total of 17 this season while averaging a double-double this year, 17.3 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per contest.
Saturday will be the last regular season home game and Sophomore Day as the Pride host Edison State at 3pm. Both the Men’s & Women’s teams will celebrate the careers of our sophomore between the Women’s & Men's game around 3pm. All home games are played on the downtown Dayton campus in the only arena in the nation named Building 8. The game will be streamed live on Facebook with additional coverage from the Gem City Sports Network.
