LiDonta Hicks-Gentry earns back to back OCCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Three of the four OCCAC Basketball Players of the Week for Dec. 25-31 are repeat performers from last week and the fourth was honored earlier in the season. Dai’Shona Washington-Polk (D-II female), LiDonta Hicks-Gentry (D-II, male) and Angel Blakely (D-III female) are all back-to-back winners while Jake Schultz brought home the D-III men’s accolade.

LiDonta Hicks-Gentry (6-7/SO – Snider HS, Fort Wayne, IN) converted 8-of-12 (75%) field goal attempts for 16 points, paired with 10 rebounds for his 16th career double-double Saturday at St. Clair County in Port Huron, MI. He also dished out a pair of assists en route to his second straight OCCAC D-II Men’s Player of the Week distinction. 

Hicks-Gentry has now recorded 6 consecutive double-doubles with a total of 8 this season while leading the Pride in scoring at 15.6 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per contest. 

Sinclair will get 2018 started as they travel to Thomas More College for a Thursday non-conference match up.

Wednesday the 10th Sinclair will host Owens to kick off the conference season at home on the downtown Dayton campus in the only arena in the nation named Building 8.  The game will be streamed live on Facebook with additional coverage from the Gem City Sports Network.
