Holtrey named Buckeye Charters Athlete of Distinction for December
Dayton, OH – The Athletic Department is pleased to announce that Freshman Alec Holtrey (FR – Springboro H.S.) received the Buckeye Charters Student-Athlete of Distinction Award for the month of December.
Each month the Athletic Department in conjunction with Buckeye Charters, will select a Student-Athlete that has been a leader in all three categories; Community Service, Classroom and Competition – also known as the 3 C’s.
This month we would like to honor Freshman Alec Holtrey of the Men’s Basketball team. Alec has not only been active with the team this past fall in the community but he continues to lead the way in the Classroom and on the court.
The month of December was extremely busy for all the Sinclair student-athletes and especially the men’s basketball team. After spending Thanksgiving Day at the Dayton Convention Center volunteering at the annual Feast of Giving, finals and the end of the fall semester landed just a few weeks later. Mixing in a few community service projects while being fully involved with the grind of the regular season and the approaching holidays, December was full of joy and surprises.
In the classroom Alec, finished the fall with a 3.75 GPA earning him a spot on the OCCAC All-Academic team for the fall and named to the Sinclair Dean’s List. The 3.75 places him on track to earn All-NJCAA recognition at the end of the year.
The team started the season ranked in the top 20 nationally but faulted early due to mostly inexperience. Through the month of December, Sinclair held a record of 8-6 with Alec starting all 14 games at the Point.
Special thanks go out to Buckeye Charters for this award that honors those student-athletes that are great in the three C’s. Buckeye Charters have been providing quality and reliable transportation for student-athletes around the region as well as many other groups for over 22 years. They have proven over the many years of partnership with the athletic department that they also value the commitment to high standards, and this is why we are pleased to name this monthly award: The Buckeye Charters Student-Athlete of Distinction
