#8 Sinclair Men’s Basketball Falls at Home to WPAFB 76-83

Dayton, OH-The Sinclair Men’s Basketball (12-2, 1-1) was not able to have a comeback against the Hawks of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and suffered their 2nd of the season with both coming at home.  The Hawks came into this game with a passion in their eyes and they played their heart out.

Sinclair was offensively slow to start the game.  They let Wright-Patt score easy baskets and could not make them themselves.  3-point baskets were a huge problem for Sinclair.  The same could not be said for Wright-Patt, who was putting down 3’s all game.  The Tartans were making silly mistakes with fouls and missed shots.  The Hawks took this opportunity to take the lead.  Sinclair was able to tie the game at 29-29 and eventually take the lead 31-29, but after Wright-Patt took the lead back, Sinclair was not able to take the lead again.  At the end of the first half, Wright-Patt led with a score of 32-34 over Sinclair.

The second half of the game did not start in Sinclair’s favor.  The Hawks went on a 17-5 run to start the second half.  With such a run, it would make having a comeback that much harder for the Tartan Pride.  Wright-Patt had their biggest lead of the night with a 15 point cushion over Sinclair.  Sinclair did eventually cut the deficit to 4 points with under 2 minutes to play in the game.  With 37 seconds remaining, the Tartans came within 2 points, but were unable to knock down a basket to tie it up.  The Hawks went on to make it a 2 possession game and Sinclair had to foul to stop the clock and force free throws.  With the free throws made, Sinclair was not able to have their comeback and went down to Wright-Patt with a final score of 76-83.

Akiean Frederick (6-08-SO-Frankling Heights H.S.) scored another double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Jaquan Harrison (6-04/FR-Africentric H.S.) and Dwayne Chastain, Jr. (6-03/SO-Thurgood Marshall H.S.) each had 12 points

Sinclair Men play at home next on Wednesday January 11th Cincinnati State at 7:30 P.M.

All home games are played in Building 8 on the downtown Dayton campus.
