(11)Sinclair Men’s Basketball wins conference road game 91-82

Dayton, OH-The (11)Sinclair Men’s Basketball (13-3/2-2) won an early critical OCCAC game on the road at Lorain County 91-82.

Sinclair rebounded after losing back to back games for the first time since early February 2015.

The first half for Sinclair did not start well as the visitors was ice cold connecting on 39% from the field and 20% from the 3 point line.  Lorain was able to take advantage of all the Sinclair poor shooting to take their largest lead of the game at 19-10 with about 9 minutes remaining in the half.

Sinclair was able to limp into halftime only trailing by one (38-37) on strong defense and rebounding that created a couple of easy transition baskets.

The second half was all Sinclair as the Pride came out hot to start the second half.  As bad as the Pride shot the ball in the first 20 minutes was just the opposite in the second half.  Sinclair shot 59% from the field and 77% from the free throw line and drained 3 of 4 from behind the 3 point arc.

The Pride was in control and once the lead got out to double figures as they were able to squash any run Lorain managed to put together.

Akiean Frederick (6-09/SO-Franklin Heights H.S.) recorded his 19th career double-double and his 13th of the year with 26 points and 12 rebounds.  Dwayne Chastain, Jr. (6-03/SO-Thurgood Marshall H.S.) had 19 points to go along with 8 assist.

Not only did Jaquan Harrison (6-4/FR-Columbus Africentric H.S.) record his first career double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds but the 13 rebounds, 5 assist and 3 block shots also set new career highs.

LiDonta Hick-Gentry (6-7/FR-Fort Wayne (IN) Snider H.S.) also recorded his first career double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, setting a career high with 18 points in his young career.

The Pride had one of those rare nights as three players recorded double-doubles in the same game.  The win also sets a new Sinclair team record with 12 straight road wins.  By winning today, Sinclair has now won 15 of the last 16 meetings between the two institutions.

Sinclair Men play at home Monday against Lakeland Community College at 3 P.M.

All home games are played in the only arena in the nation named Building 8 on the downtown Dayton campus.
