Sinclair Men’s Basketball pull away from Clark State 70-48

Dayton, OH-The Sinclair Men’s Basketball (19-7, 7-6) return home from a 4-game road trip with a big conference win over the Eagles of Clark State Community College (1-22, 0-14).  Sinclair was only able to go 1-3 on their road trip and coming home to an important win was a giant deal.

In the 1st half, both teams seemed a sloppy on both offense and defense.  The scoring was going back and forth for the better start of the game.  Sinclair’s defense was able to force turnovers and get the ball into their offense’s hands.  The score was 10-10, but the Tartans went on a 9-0 run over the Eagles.  Even with this run, Sinclair’s offense was not making the best of shots, but their defense was also forcing bad shots on their opposition.  The Tartan Pride was trying to pull away, but their offense was not syncing.  Nonetheless, Sinclair had the lead at halftime 35-22.

In the 2nd half, Sinclair had a slow start was able to maintain their double digit lead over Clark State to start.  The offensive plays for the Tartans looked to not be meshing well with each other and sloppy play was still present.  Sinclair appeared to not be taking their times to make good shots which led to Clark State cutting the lead to 9 with a score of 49-40.  The Tartan Pride looked to have better ball movement on offense and was able to score 12 straight points to give them a 21 point advantage.  Sinclair’s defense forced more turnovers on Clark State.  The Eagles played their hearts out, but were unable to catch up to Sinclair.  The Tartans came out with the win with a final score of 70-48.

Dwayne Chastain, Jr. (6-03/SO-Thurgood Marshall H.S.) scored a career high 30 points.

LiDonta Hicks-Gentry (6-07/FR-Snider H.S.) had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Sinclair Men play at home next on Saturday February 18 against Lorain County at 3:00 P.M.

All home games are played in Building 8 Arena on the downtown Dayton campus.
