Sinclair Men’s Basketball Gets Big Win Against Lorain County 109-95
Dayton, OH-The Sinclair Men’s Basketball (20-7, 8-6) continues their 5 game home winning streak with a 109-95 conference win against the Commodores of Lorain County Community College (15-10, 7-8).
This win marks the 8th time Coach Price has had a 20-win season at Sinclair College, which is now the most in school history. He moves ahead of longtime Coach Don Cundiff who coached 17 years racking up seven 20 win seasons and 305 victories.
In the 1st half, both teams came out hot and scored quick and often. Sinclair’s offense was looking good from the beginning moving the ball and taking advantage of the home team’s size advantage. The Commodores didn’t miss either as they matched the home team shot for shot.
Six lead changes during the first 20 minutes as each team took turns at mini runs. Sparked by Dominic Scranton (6-1/FR – Marysville HS) off the bench in the first half with 10 points, Sinclair was able to pull away going into halftime with a 60-47 margin.
In the 2nd half, both teams were content to exchange baskets as Sinclair was making easy and open shots and Lorain stayed just within striking distance. The high powered offense of the Commodores kept the visitors right on the edge of making pulling within a couple of possessions.
Sinclair continued to move and share the ball as the Pride scored both in transition and in the half court sets. Near the end of the game, Sinclair was able to push the lead out to 20 points (96-76) before Lorain made their last unsuccessful run.
This game became physical at times with fouls on both teams, but nothing more than expected from a conference foe. Despite Lorain County’s hard effort and comeback attempt, Sinclair came away with the win 109-95.
Akiean Frederick (6-08/SO-Franklin Heights H.S.) led the team with 30 points and 7 rebounds. Dwayne Chastain, Jr. (6-03/SO-Thurgood Marshall) had his fourth double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 assists.
