Washington Named National NJCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Dayton, Ohio – The Sinclair Men’s basketball Marcellous Washington (6-1/SO – Lexington KY Bryan Station H.S.) has been named the NJCAA Division II National Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for January 4-10.

Washington, a 6-1 sophomore guard from Lexington (KY), has helped Sinclair Community College to a school record 17-0 start and a current #2 ranking in the latest NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Poll.

He averaged 20.5 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, four steals and one block in two wins last week.

In an 80-60 win over Cincinnati State on Wednesday, Washington had 16 points, nine rebounds, 11 assists, three steals and one block. He followed that up with 25 points, five rebounds, seven assists, five steals and one block in a 100-88 win over Lorain County Community College on Saturday.

Washington has helped Sinclair to a 17-0 start overall and a 5-0 mark in OCCAC play. He is averaging 12.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game overall. In OCCAC play, he is averaging 16 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 3.2 steals per game.

Sinclair will host Cuyahoga Saturday at 3:00pm.
