Sinclair Men’s Basketball earns post-season awards

Dayton, Ohio – (5)Sinclair (28-3) Men’s basketball team finished the 2015-16 season just a bit short of a trip to the NJCAA Sweet Sixteen but placed 4 members on the All-Conference / All-District Teams.

Sinclair had an incredible run this season earning the OCCAC Regular Season Team Championship, OCCAC Player of the Year and OCCAC Coach of the Year.

Reshardd Harris (6-4/SO – Michigan Collegiate H.S.) was named OCCAC Player of the Year and was named to the 1st Team All-District.  In his only season at Sinclair, he racked up 9 double-doubles and 1 triple-double along with 3 OCCAC Player of the Week awards.  Reshardd was Sinclair’s leading scorer averaging 17.5 points per game along with 8.9 boards per game.  His career high was 32 points against OSU-Lima and 19 rebounds twice.  He currently ranks 5th all-time at Sinclair in shooting % (58.2%) and 10th all-time with 8.94 rebounds per contest.

Manny Powell (5-8/SO – Gahanna Lincoln H.S.) also earned both 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-District as he averaged 14.9 points per game and 7.4 assist.  Manny collected 8 double-doubles along the way and earned 2 OCCAC Player of the Week awards and one NJCAA National Player of the Week award his freshman year.  He had a career high of 39 points against Southern State last season and tied a school record with 17 assist this season against Jackson.  Manny now stands 3rd at Sinclair with 388 assist, 5th with 6.36 assist per game, 9th with 108 three point shots made and is the only player in Sinclair history to have 900 career points and 300 assist.

Akiean Frederick (6-8/FR – Columbus Franklin Heights H.S.) earned All-Conference Honorable Mention and 2nd Team All-District in this his freshman year.  While averaging 14.0 points per game and 7.2 rebounds, he collected 6 double-doubles and one OCCAC Player of the Week award.  A late season explosion against Lorain gave him his career high 31 points and 5 block shots.  Akiean is ranked 11th all-time on the Sinclair list with 1.35 blocks per game and 9th with a total of 42 blocked shots.

Marcellous Washington (6-1/SO – Lexington Bryan Station H.S.) also earned All-Conference/All-District Honorable Mention.  Marcellous had two double-doubles along with one OCCAC Player of the Week and one NJCAA National Player of the Week.  He hit his career high in points (25), assist (11) and steals (6) two times each during his two years.  Marcellous ranks 3rd all-time at Sinclair with 124 three pointers made, 4th with 157 steals, 6th with 2.8 assist per game, 6th with 2.57 steals per game and 7th all-time with a 41.5% three point shooting %.  Marcellous is the first player in school history to score 600 points, make 100 three point shots, collect 250 rebounds, hand out 250 assist and get 100 steals.
