Sinclair Men finish 2014 with a 87-60 win

Dayton, Ohio- Sinclair Men (10-4) finish the 2014 calendar year with an 87-60 home victory over the Miami University Hamilton Harriers.

With both teams coming off a long holiday break, shooting was not very good in the first half.  Sinclair was able to get out and score some easy buckets in transition to help offset shooting 15% from behind the 3 point line.  It wasn’t a matter of getting quality shot attempts, just knocking off the rust of 6 days off.

After taking an 8 point lead into halftime, Sinclair once again came out with quality shots at the rim that would not go down.  Taking advantage of Sinclair’s shooting woes, the Harriers was able to take a brief lead early in the second half.  But this would truly be a tail of two completely different halves.  Sinclair would get hot from the field as they connected on 53% from the field and 3/6 from behind the 3pt arc.  As Sinclair heated up, MUH lost steam and could not run with the home team.  After going down 43-42 in the second half, Sinclair outscored the visitors 45-17 in the final 14 minutes.

Sinclair had a balanced attack with Manny Powell (5-8/FR – Gahanna Lincoln H.S.) leading all scorers with 21 points and 7 assist.  Sinclair also posted a pair of double-doubles as Wes Parr (6-6/SO – Cleveland Benedictine H.S.) scored 17 points and 11 rebounds as well as Steven Perriere (6-7/FR – Jean Rostand H.S. – Paris, France) with 10 points and a game high 14 rebounds.  Conner Myslowski (6-4/SO – West Carrollton H.S.) added 13 points off the bench and Marcellous Washington (6-1/FR – Lexington KY Bryan Station H.S.) chipped in 12 points.  Also with a career high scoring night, Caleb Walker (6-4/FR – Gahanna Christian H.S.) with 12 points.

Sinclair also received news today that Freshman Guard – Manny Powell was named the OCCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

We also held a moment of silence for an OCCAC basketball official that passed away December 25th.  Chuck Bullock was long time official that worked many different levels and was a great ambassador and teacher of the game.

Tonight’s win marked the 200th win at Sinclair for Head Coach Jeff Price.
