Dayton, Ohio- Sinclair falls to Wright Patterson Air Force Base Men's Basketball Team 82-87. With the loss, the Tartans fall to 1-1 on the season. Wright Patterson was led by Brian Muse; he ended the contest with 23 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocks.
Both teams were shooting efficiently in the first half. Sinclair went 16 for 38 from the field, 7 for 19 from beyond the arc. Wright Patterson Air Force went 18 for 35 from the field, shooting at a rate of 51.4 percent. The two teams went back and forth as there were eight lead changes and seven ties. Manny Powell (5'8" freshman guard from Gahanna Lincoln H.S.) set the tone early for the Tartans as he had 15 points and five assists in the first half. Sinclair went into half time with a 41-39 lead.
Wright Patterson was able to find their grove scoring inside the paint through their big's, Brian Muse and Paul Vermaire. They shot even better than they did the first half at 58.1 percent from the field. Sinclair was able to stay in it when Manny Powell came back into the game, his efficient shooting from three, ability to drive to the bucket and dish to the perimeter kept the game close. Wright Patt. was able to maintain the lead all the way till the end with their ability to make their free throws down the stretch.
Notable performances include Michael Tillman (6'4" freshman guard from Richmond H.S.) who lead the way scoring with 25 points, shooting 9 for 20 from the field and 4 for 11 from three. Manny Powell ended the game with 21 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals. Wright Patt had five players score in double figures, Brian Muse (23), Maicus Banks (12), Mike Osborne (12), Paul Vermaire (12) and Brock Prosser (10).
Sinclair's next game is a home contest against Ohio State University-Lima in Building 8, P.A.C. Gymnasium at 7:30pm.
