Sinclair Men hold on for 77-75 home victory

Dayton, Ohio- Sinclair Men (4-2) was able to come back from being down at half to win at home against Region XII foe Jackson College (2-4).

The game started with both teams scoring at will.  Sinclair was able to pound the ball into Westley Parr (6-6/Sophomore – Cleveland Benedictine H.S.) who scored 16 of his 22 points in the 1st half.  But Jackson had an answer, Tre'Vion Crews didn't miss from any range as he was able to pour in 17 of his game high 24 points to give the Jets a 38-32 half time lead.

Sinclair came out quick to start the second half with two straight scores.  From that point, Jackson settled in and started pulling away with timely shots and key stops.  The visitors were able to put together a modest 12-3 run for the largest lead of the game at 50-39.  Down 11 with about 15 minutes remaining, Coach Price brought 5 new bodies off the bench to try and find a spark.  After going 1 for 8 from behind the 3 point arc in the first half, Sinclair found the range as they connected on 6 for 15.  With fresh second unit legs, Sinclair was able to increase the pressure and chip away at the lead.  At the 9 minute mark, the game was once again tied.

The lead changed 13 times as both teams once again took turns hitting big shots.  With under a minute left in regulation, Jackson had the ball and was down two 75-73.  Despite the best efforts of the Sinclair's defenders, Tre'Vion Crews hit a tough shot to tie the game at 75-75 with 30 seconds remaining.  With the shot clock off, Sinclair was going to hold for the final shot.  As the game clock fell below 8 seconds, Conner Myslowski (6-4/Sophomore – West Carrollton H.S.) slipped a perfect post entry pass into Wes Parr for the easy lay-up with 3.3 seconds remaining.  The Jets had one final attempt coming out of a time out with 3.3 seconds remaining.  The length of the floor pass was gathered at the top of the key and passed over to the wing for a three point attempt that was blocked as time expired.

Leading Sinclair was Westley Parr (6-6/Sophomore – Cleveland Benedictine H.S.) with 22 points and 5 rebounds.  With another top performance coming off the bench, Michael Tillman (6-4/Freshman – Richmond IN HS) knocked down 16 points and Jabriel Coaston (6-6/Sophomore – Cincinnati Roger Bacon H.S.) chipped in with 11 points and 4 rebounds.  Leading the team again in assist, Conner Myslowski (6-4/Sophomore – West Carrollton H.S.) with 7 tonight.
