Sinclair baseball leads the way with end of season honors

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Individual postseason awards for the 2018 OCCAC baseball campaign have been announced with 23 student-athletes earning all-conference honors. Yearly accolades were named as well. Sinclair’s Kyle Ruehlman and Steve Dintaman earned OCCAC Pitcher of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively, while Luke Baranchak of Mercyhurst North East corralled the league’s Player of the Year hardware.

 

Kyle Ruehlman (SO/RHP – Milford H.S.) was named the OCCAC Pitcher of the Year for the second time and his coach, Steve Dintaman was named the OCCAC Coach of the Year. 

 

Ruehlman the sophomore right-hander for Sinclair, took home OCCAC pitcher of the year for the second time.  He compiled a 6-0 in conference play as a sophomore in 38 innings, while posting an incredible 1.89 ERA and striking out 36. 

 

Steve Dintaman, who led Sinclair Community College to its eight conference championship in his nearly 10-year tenure, was named the OCCAC Coach of the Year for the ninth time.  Dintaman, who reached 400 career wins last season. 


Joining Ruehlman with 1st Team All-Conference honors was; Jeremiah Clarke (FR/OF – Westerville Centeral H.S.), Brandon Henson (SO/CF – Pickerington Central H.S.), Sean Darmafall (SO/LF – Elyria Catholic H.S.) and Alex Dennis (SO/INF - Licking Valley H.S.)

Earning 2nd Team All-Conference for Sinclair; Sami Mehmed (SO/2B – Strongsville H.S.) and AJ Peter (FR/RHP – Grove City H.S.).  A pair of Tartans in Jeremiah Clarke and Alex Jacobs (FR/INF – Indian Lake H.S.) share co-Freshman of the Year distinction.
