(8)Sinclair Baseball (3-0) opens with 3 wins on the road

Rome, GA – The 2015-16 Sinclair baseball (3-0) season is now underway as the Pride traveled to Georgia to take on Georgia Highlands College (10-7) in a three game weekend series.

The back-to-back defending OCCAC regular season champions wasted no time getting the party started as the Pride held on to take game one 7-5 over Chargers.

Georgia Highlands was never able to get over the hump after falling behind by 5 going into the ninth inning on Friday, at Emerson, Georgia.

Tyler Cowles racked up two RBIs on one hit for Tartan Pride as he homered in the fourth inning.

 

Lefty Nick Cecil recorded the win for Tartan Pride allowing one run over two innings. He struck out four, walked three and gave up one hit to open his 2016 spring.

 

Tartan Pride put up one run in each of the seventh, eighth and ninth to stretch the lead to 5 runs going into the bottom of the ninth. Even though the home team pushed 3 runs across late, the Pride had win number one.

Game two brought some late game heroics as the Pride survives to win 3-1.  After a scoreless stalemate, Tartan Pride finally got on the board with one run in the sixth as the Pride scored on an RBI double by Tyler Cowles.

 

After the Chargers tied the game in the bottom of the 6th, Chad Roberts lined a two out double in the top of the 8th to score Tyler Cowles giving the Pride the lead back for good.

Alex Anders was able to give the Pride a quality start as he allowed one earned run on three hits over six innings.

 

Cole Quillen got the win in relief for Tartan Pride as he pitched three scoreless innings.

Game three was the best offensive game of the weekend as the Pride blasted the Chargers 11-1 to sweep the three game series.

Inning three was not kind to the home team as Sinclair pounded out 6 runs.  The Pride followed that up with a three run 5th to cruise to an easy 11-1 seven inning series sweep.

 

Right Hander Ricky Krieger allowed only one run and struck out six, paving the way for a Tartan Pride win.

Sinclair will start a stretch of 11 straight home games on Tuesday as the Pride take on Henry Ford in a Region XII match up starting at 3pm.

Sinclair plays all their home games at Grady’s Field at Athletes in Action in Xenia, OH.
