Sinclair Baseball Ranked 8th in the Preseason
Dayton, OH – The NJCAA has announced the 2016 Division II Baseball preseason rankings and the defending 2015 OCCAC conference champions Sinclair Tartan Pride, opens the season ranked 8th in the nation.
Coming off one of the most successful season in school history with 50 wins and a dominating 31-2 home record, Sinclair is once again ready to make another run at the College World Series. Last season the Tartan Pride ran away with its 6th conference championship in the last 7 seasons with a 20-4 record.
The amazing 50-11 record setting season finished one game short of heading to the College World Series as they lost a heartbreaker to Kellogg CC in the Region Finals 2-1.
Sinclair returns 3 All-Conference players that will help continue the road to Enid, OK, site of the 2016 Division II Baseball World Series.
A great place to start is on the mound and Sinclair returns the 2015 OCCAC Pitcher of the Year, Alex Ander (LHP-Beavercreek H.S.). Alex finished the season with a 9-4 record that included 4 complete games and 3 shutouts. He was also honored as the OCCAC Pitcher of the Week 4 times during the spring.
Another returning All-Conference player will hold down third base for the Pride, Alec Turner (3B-Carlisle H.S.). Alec also earned a double Player of the Week honor on March 15th as he was named the OCCAC Conference and NJCAA Division II National Player of the Week award.
Rounding the returning OCCAC All-Conference players, Outfielder Tyler Cowles (OF-Grove City H.S.).
The Tartan Pride coaching staff has put together another championship recruiting class that has been noted by the NJCAA.
As listed by the NJCAA as the top incoming freshman for the North District (Region XII), Pitcher Cole Quillen (Tippecanoe H.S.) and Left Fielder Nick Massey (Beavercreek H.S.).
Sinclair has also landed three 4 year transfers that the NJCAA has listed as to incoming recruits; Pitcher Nick Cecil (NCAA D-I/Evansville Univ), Pitcher Ricky Krieger (NCAA D-II/Ashland Univ) and Second Baseman Chad Roberts (NCAA D-I/Marshall Univ).
The Pride will open the 2016 campaign on the road at Georgia Highlands College the last week of February then returning home for a stretch of 19 of 21 games in March. The conference season gets underway April 1st weekend as the Pride will host Lakeland for 4 games.
Sinclair plays all their home games at Grady’s Field at Athletes in Action in Xenia, OH.
