Sinclair Student-Athletes register to vote
The Sinclair athletic department took time away from all the activities associated with the first day of classes to fulfill a civic responsibility, registering to vote. Monday was the first day of class and all 5 athletics teams (about 100 student-athletes) met with Beverly King - Supervisor of Registration for the Montgomery County (OH) Board of Elections.
Ms. King spoke about the importance of the Presidential election cycle, but she also emphasized how critical it is for citizens to vote in all elections not just the big ones. Pointing out that every vote is needed during the local elections as those are sometimes the issues that have a greater impact in our community, such as County Commissioners, Mayoral and even school bond issues.
At the end of the meeting, 53 Sinclair student-athletes had filled out voter registration forms for all Ohio counties including several players submitting registration forms for Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan.
“I’m excited to think that with these 53 new registrants and the 47 already registered before tonight, we now have every Sinclair student-athlete eligible to vote registered to vote,” Said Sinclair’s Athletic Director Jeff Price.
Voting is a privilege for citizens of the United States and a responsibility for every citizen. Information that will be helpful to you about voting in the state of Ohio can be found at http://www.mcohio.org or by contacting the Board of Elections at the address listed below.
